ET #2 - The Smartest Way to Win Back Shoppers

Summer is almost here, and with these 40°C days, I’m practically living under the air conditioner! 😂

Anyway I wanted to share with you the ultimate abandoned cart flow!

Every online store knows the frustration of losing a customer mid-checkout.
Whether it’s a technical bug or a distracted shopper, it hurts to see those potential sales slip away.

This frustration is so real that the average cart abandonment rate was 70.19% in 2023!

But there’s one store doing something different, and it blew my mind!

Imagine this: "I see you started an order but didn’t get round to completing it. Here’s a freebie to try..."

Does it work? YES.

The cost of sending this package is $10. But the average lifetime value of their customer is $3,000! Even if just one out of 300 freebies converts into customer, they profit. Plus, they get the added bonus of free marketing when people share their freebies online. (That’s how I found out about them!)

If you have a product that costs less than $10, you should definitely give this a try. Here’s a quick plan:

Figure out the cost of sending a personalized package & understand your customer lifetime value.

Run this as an A/B test for a week or two, sending freebies to those who abandon their carts.

Then, wait another couple of weeks to see if people post about it online. You should add a 5% off coupon to track these purchases.

This might not work for every store, but if you have a great product and high retention, it’s definitely worth a shot!
